WE WILL ENABLE STUDENTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS AND ABILITIES TO MEET THEIR POTENTIAL AND DEVELOP THEIR STRENGTHS.

All children will be valued and will be entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum. They will be made to feel secure and supported, they will have opportunities to experience success, and they will experience both challenges and support to help them learn.

Effective assessment, and a close partnership between children, parents, school and other agencies will enable the child’s needs to be met successfully.

Every children has different learning needs, interests, and strengths, and we cater for all types of children. We recognize that some children might have a special educational need, and we will work with each family to accommodate these needs.

Parents of children with special needs will be advised to:

  • consult with the school early in the year before possible entry
  • cooperate with diagnostic assessments to clarify the support required
  • make their children available, where necessary, to join classrooms for a part-day so that teachers can observe them and assess how they should best be integrated
  • agree recommendations for accommodations to the curriculum and for additional support that will be required in the school and at home.

In the case of children with severe learning and/or multiple communication difficulties, there will be a professional assessment to guide discussion with parents about appropriate provision. If the parent and the school determine that sufficient support cannot be provided for the child, the school will support the parent to identify an appropriate setting.
